Dragon Book - The Old Testement
Dragon Book – The Old Testament

Dragons in one of the oldest books of all are creatures of the deep, rulers of the fathomless abyss that existed before creation. In those times, the whole world was a wet, slimy thing and the watery pits knew no bounds. The dragons were fearsome, gigantic creatures whose power seemed limitless.
An integral part of creation was subduing and killing those primordial ancient dragons. Those that weren't killed were imprisoned in deep caves beneath the oceans, with the whole weight of the world blocking their escape. Angels were appointed as their jailors. In all, a lot of effort went into insuring those monsters would never see the light of day.
The ancient dragons were called Leviathan, or Tanin, or Serpents, or even Crocodiles. It was said their jaws were enormous, fire spewed from their mouths and smoke billowed from their nostrils. They had scores of brilliant eyes and they made the watery pits boil in their wake. Their scales were immune to all weapons and they ruled all the large bodies of water and major rivers. Some think that they had many heads while others say the few luckless eyewitnesses actually saw several of the enormous dragons and not one.
The Old Testament, that ancient dragon book, says this about the dragons. Not many survived the process of creation and the few that did were imprisoned and guarded in the deepest places of the Earth. But even if one of them surfaces, nothing living will survive above ground.
The ancient serpents had a few things in common. There were three main types. The Leviathan, the serpents and the crocodiles. We must remember that they are not the creatures we know today that own these names. These creatures were enormous. These creatures were so powerful they had to be vanquished to allow the rest of creation's life forms to survive and the these creatures were hard to kill. Some of the ancient crocodiles' skulls were smashed and their bodies impaled but still they were not dead. And all of these creatures were aligned with the dark forces, scheming to use the fiery breath to destroy all life.
Such is the Old Testament's lore concerning the dark, scaly primordial creatures.
